Designing Calm: How Our Interiors Reflect Nature

Inside the hand-crafted spaces of Botanix Nature Resort, Gurgaon

Rooms at Botanix Nature Resort aren’t just built for comfort, they’re built to blend into the natural environment. Every room at Botanix was thoughtfully designed with botanical beauty in mind, to translate spaces that feel less like hotel rooms and more like sanctuaries. One of the founders, Shama Vashisth, designed the interiors to reflect peace, nature’s beauty, and a place like home.

What Is Biophilic Design, and Why Does It Matter?

Biophilic design is the practice of weaving nature into built environments — through materials, light, texture, and form – to support human wellbeing. Research consistently shows that spaces rooted in natural elements reduce cortisol, lower blood pressure, and improve mood. For a resort built on the philosophy of slow living and reconnection with the outdoors, it was the only approach that made sense. At Botanix, biophilic design is not a trend we adopted, it is the ethos we were built on.

Three Cottages, Three Moods, One Philosophy

Our accommodations take the shape of intimate tents and mini cottages — structures that feel rooted in the earth rather than imposed upon it. Each one has its own name, its own palette, and its own emotional register.

Jasmine Cottages: The Softness of White Bloom

The Jasmine Cottages carry the lightness of their namesake flower. Lime-washed walls in pale, chalky tones diffuse natural light beautifully, making the rooms feel open and airy even as they hold a sense of shelter. Floral motifs run through the soft furnishings and tiled accents, creating a space that feels garden-adjacent, as though the jasmine outside has crept indoors in the gentlest possible way.

Marigold Cottages: The Warmth of Earthen Gold

Marigold is the colour of warmth, festivity, and the Indian sun at harvest. The Marigold Cottages translate this into interiors that feel grounded and welcoming. Rich wood elements anchor the space, and the interior colours chosen deliberately to evoke the feeling of late afternoon light filtering through leaves. It is a room that makes you want to linger.

Forest Tents: Where Shelter Meets Wilderness

The Forest Tents are perhaps our most immersive offering. Designed to blur the boundary between inside and out, they bring the textures of the forest floor indoors, raw wood, muted greens and blues, and the kind of natural light that shifts with the trees outside. The tent silhouette itself is a design choice: one that makes sure you feel united with the outdoors, providing you instant comfort.

A Family’s Vision, Built Into Every Wall

Botanix was born from a shared family passion: a love for botany, for regenerative living, and for creating spaces that bring people closer to nature. The result is a resort where nothing feels generic, because nothing was designed generically. Every tile selection, every wood finish, every floral motif in the soft furnishings was a considered choice made by someone who cared deeply about how guests would feel inside these rooms.

When guests tell us the cottages feel like coming home, that is what they are responding to; not luxury in the conventional sense, but the rare quality of a space that was made with intention.
